Protecting Our Communities with Common-Sense Immigration Policies

As your Representative-elect for House District 45 and a Castle Rock Town Councilman, I want to address an issue that continues to impact our communities - public safety and immigration enforcement. Recently, Castle Rock took a stand by supporting federal immigration enforcement policies, and I fully support this decision.

This vote wasn’t about politics - it was about protecting our families and restoring accountability. The reality is clear: sanctuary policies, which shield individuals who violate immigration laws, have emboldened criminal activity, strained local resources, and eroded public trust in the justice system.

Let me be clear - compassion does not mean chaos. True compassion is protecting the innocent, securing our neighborhoods, and fostering a society rooted in justice. Turning a blind eye to illegal activity under the guise of virtue does not help our communities - it hurts them.

This is not a partisan issue. It’s about ensuring law-abiding residents are prioritized over those who disregard the law. In Colorado, we’ve seen the toll of unchecked illegal immigration - families devastated by crime, neighborhoods destabilized, and taxpayers left footing the bill for policies that put ideology ahead of safety.

Our decision in Castle Rock reflects responsible governance - partnering with federal enforcement to address illegal immigration while respecting the rights of citizens and legal immigrants alike.

As I prepare to serve you at the State Capitol, I’m committed to strengthening public safety, upholding the rule of law, and advocating for policies that protect the people of Colorado. Leadership means balancing compassion with accountability, and it’s time for state and local governments to reject failed policies that compromise safety in favor of virtue signaling.

I urge my colleagues across the state to join me in pushing for solutions that work - policies that prioritize families, secure our communities, and respect the law.

The Majority’s Manipulation: How HB25-1133 Was Forced Through Committee

House Bill 25-1133 - a bill that prohibits the sale of ammunition to anyone under the age of 21 - should have died in the Business Affairs & Labor Committee. The votes were there to stop it. The arguments against it were clear and compelling. Yet, in a blatant act of political manipulation, the majority party ensured its passage by swapping out a "no" vote from their party for a member who had already signaled she would vote “yes.” When faced with losing a bill deemed “important” because its primary sponsor holds a leadership position in the majority party, they simply changed the committee’s makeup to guarantee the outcome they wanted.
