Castle Rock Starlighting: A Celebration of Community and the Spirit of the Season
There are few traditions as cherished in Castle Rock as our annual Starlighting ceremony. It is more than just an event - it is a moment where our community gathers to celebrate the start of the Christmas season, to reconnect, and to reflect on the values that make this town so special. For decades, the lighting of the star atop the rock has symbolized the warmth, hope, and unity that define Castle Rock and its people.
The Starlighting ceremony began in 1936, during a time when our nation was climbing out of the Great Depression. Local leaders came together to create a beacon of hope - a star to shine brightly over Castle Rock as a reminder of resilience, community, and faith in brighter days ahead. Today, that star still shines, a testament to the enduring spirit of our town and a tradition that links our past to our future.
This year, I had the privilege of introducing Congresswoman Lauren Boebert to this cherished event. It was an honor to share with her the history and heart of Castle Rock - a town rich with tradition, filled with hardworking families, thriving businesses, and neighbors who always step up to support one another. The Starlighting is the perfect example of what makes Castle Rock extraordinary: it brings together citizens, business owners, and visitors alike to celebrate not just the season, but the bonds that unite us as a community.
As we gathered under the glow of the star this year, I was reminded once again of how deeply grateful I am to represent House District 45 in the Colorado State Legislature. Serving the people of this community is the greatest honor of my life. Castle Rock has shown me what servant leadership truly means: putting others first, listening to the needs of those you represent, and working tirelessly to ensure their voices are heard.
The Starlighting is a reflection of what public service should be about - bringing people together, fostering unity, and celebrating what we can achieve as a community. In the same way that this tradition has stood the test of time, my commitment to representing District 45 will be rooted in the values that have made this town what it is today. I pledge to serve with humility, integrity, and a dedication to making life better for all who call this place home.
As we look to the year ahead, let the star atop Castle Rock remind us of the light we can bring into each other’s lives. Whether it’s through service, kindness, or simply taking the time to listen, we each have the power to make our community stronger. Together, we will continue to build on the traditions that make Castle Rock such a special place to live, work, and raise a family.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me to represent you. May the spirit of the season fill your homes with joy and your hearts with hope. Let us go forward united, committed to preserving what makes our community great while working toward an even brighter future.
Merry Christmas and God bless Castle Rock!
